How to Install Portawalls® Whitewall Tire Inserts

Omega Portawalls® are designed to give your tires a classic whitewall look without replacing your tires. Installation is simple, but correct fitment and careful mounting are important for the best result.

This guide explains the basic installation process and what to check before installing your Portawalls® whitewall tire inserts.

Before You Start

Before installation, make sure you have selected the correct Portawalls® size for your tires.

Check:

Rim diameter
Tire sidewall height
Whitewall width
Front and rear tire sizes if installing on a motorcycle

Portawalls® are not recommended for low-profile tires and are not suitable for run-flat tires.

For best results, your tire should have enough sidewall height for the insert to sit securely and evenly.

Tools and Preparation

Portawalls® installation does not require special tools, but proper preparation helps achieve a cleaner result.

Before installation:

Clean the tire sidewall
Remove dirt, grease, and tire dressing
Make sure the tire and rim area are dry
Check that the insert is not twisted or damaged
Work on a clean, flat surface

Avoid using harsh chemicals on the tire or insert before installation.

Step 1: Slightly Deflate the Tire

Start by slightly deflating the tire.

The goal is to create enough space between the tire bead and rim area so the Portawall insert can be positioned correctly.

You do not need to fully remove the tire from the rim.

Step 2: Insert the Portawall Between the Tire and Rim

Carefully place the Portawalls® insert between the tire and rim.

Work slowly around the wheel and make sure the insert sits evenly.

Do not pull, stretch, cut, or force the insert excessively. Proper alignment is important for a clean and balanced whitewall appearance.

Step 3: Adjust the Insert Evenly

Once the Portawall is positioned, check the entire circle.

Make sure:

The insert is seated evenly
There are no waves or folds
The visible whitewall width looks balanced
The insert is not pinched or twisted

This step is important before reinflating the tire.

Step 4: Re-Inflate the Tire

After the insert is correctly positioned, slowly re-inflate the tire to the recommended pressure.

As the tire inflates, the Portawall will settle into place between the tire and rim.

Check the insert again after inflation and adjust if needed.

Step 5: Final Check

Before driving, inspect each wheel carefully.

Check that:

The Portawall is sitting evenly
The tire is properly inflated
The insert is not loose
There is no visible damage
The whitewall line looks consistent
